Manuscript Submission

Wiley publishes journals across a wide range of subject disciplines. If you would like to find out more about the content of Wiley journals, in order to decide where to submit your paper, please use our Find a Journal Service. You can then visit the journal home page to review a journals Aims & Scope or sign up to receive regular tables of contents alerts.

Many journals now offer manuscript submission via ScholarOneTM Manuscripts, formerly known as Manuscript Central. Please review the Author Guidelines' for a specific journal to learn about its submission requirements and determine if the journal accepts manuscripts via ScholarOne Manuscripts and to read specific guidelines. Use the Author Guidelines by Journal link from the section at right to view guidelines for your chosen journals.

Preparing Manuscripts for Submission

Permission & Copyright Assignment

The corresponding author is responsible for obtaining written permission to republish or reproduce all previously published and copyrighted material—in print and other media—from the publisher of the original source. The corresponding author is also responsible for completing and returning to the editorial office or the publisher the journal-specific copyright transfer form, and any financial disclosure forms that might be required for a particular journal. Permission Request Forms and Copyright Transfer Forms are found on each journal’s website and are also available from the journal’s editorial office.

For more information about copyright, please see our FAQ at:

For more information regarding what types of material require permission, authors should refer to the list of frequently asked questions on the Wiley Permissions website.

For initial submissions, please review the Author Guidelines' page of the specific journal homepage using the link at the right.

  • For journals not using an Electronic Editorial Office system (e.g. ScholarOne Manuscripts), the final hard copy version and the file on disk must be the same
  • Include all parts of the text of the paper in a single file. The ideal sequence is:
    • Header (title, short title, authors, addresses, correspondence details including e-mail address, abstract, keywords, etc.)
    • Body of article
    • Acknowledgements
    • References
    • Figure legends
    • Table legends and tables
    • Appendices
  • Take care not to use l (ell) for 1 (one), O (capital o) for 0 (zero) or ß (German esszett) for ß (beta)
  • Use a tab, not spaces, to separate data points in tables If you use a table editor, do not use carriage returns within cells

Unless specified otherwise in the journal instructions, the text should be sent in an MS Word-compatible format (not as a PDF).

Where possible, digital versions of your figures should also be sent, with each figure saved as a separate file in TIFF or EPS format. See our Electronic Artwork guidelines for full details.

Supporting Information (formerly known as Supplementary Material)

Wiley-Blackwell is able to host online approved supporting information that authors submit with their paper. Supporting information must be important, ancillary information that is relevant to the parent article but which does not or cannot appear in the printed edition of the journal. Authors should consult the individual journal's author guidelines to see whether supporting information is accepted. For more information please see:

It is the responsibility of authors to ensure that their references are complete and have been properly prepared. Authors can refer to recent papers published in a journal for specifics of citation style for different types of communications. Wiley journal citation formats are contained within Endnote and Reference Manager, and can be downloaded here.

Saving your files

For those journals not yet using ScholarOne Manuscripts, we can accept the following:
