Open access agreement for authors at Tohoku University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, The Graduate University for Advanced Studies, and Tokyo University of Science

Publish open access with Wiley

Authors affiliated with these four institutions may publish open access in any of Wiley's hybrid journals (subscription-based journals which offer an open access option) at no or reduced cost to the author.

Publishing gold open access:

  • Complies with funder or institution mandates
  • Allows you to retain copyright through CC licenses

Here is a list of current hybrid journals transitioning to be fully gold Open Access titles from 2023. Submissions to these journals will be handled in the following way:

Submitted and Accepted before Flip Date
Articles will be covered by the open access agreement.

Submitted before Flip Date and Accepted after Flip Date
Articles will be published open access and APC will be waived.

Submitted after Flip Date
Articles will be not covered by the open access agreement.

To be eligible:

  • The responsible corresponding authorThe responsible corresponding author is the author who manages the manuscript and correspondence during the publication process - from submission through publication. This author has the authority to act on behalf of all the co-authors and will also be the contact for inquiries after publication. must be affiliated with an eligible member institution at the point of acceptance1
  • Your article must be primary research or a review article2
  • You must publish open access (in a hybrid journal that offers open access) by using our workflow as described below3
  • Your manuscript must have been accepted on or after 1 April 2022

3If you don't order open access initially, your manuscript will be published under the traditional closed access model. You may order open access retroactively, but once your paper is published in Early View or In Issue online you are no longer eligible to publish open access at no charge.
