Open access agreement for authors at eligible Finnish institutions

Publish open access with Wiley

Authors affiliated with participating FinELib institutions may publish primary research and review articles in any of Wiley's fully gold Open Access journals or Wiley’s subscription journals that offer open access (hybrid journals) at no further charge* to the author.

Update 1 January 2023

The agreement between FinELib and Wiley for open access publishing begins on 1 January 2023. However open access accounts will only open a few weeks later. To allow for this please adhere to the following:

  • Submit articles to hybrid and fully gold open access Wiley articles as usual. From 1 January Wiley hybrid articles that are accepted are eligible, and Wiley fully gold open access articles that are submitted from 1 January are eligible.
  • For hybrid articles that are accepted, do not choose a licence type when requested to do so – simply do not take action until informed that the accounts are open.
  • For fully gold open access articles that are submitted, you will have to choose the "author pays" option. You can then select "my institution will pay the invoice". Very important: Please do not pay any fully gold open access APC invoices that this generates. For eligible articles we will cancel these invoices, and arrange payment via the agreement, when the accounts are opened.
  • Hindawi articles are not covered until the accounts are open later in the month – we will update this page once they are.

When selecting open access, please note that many institutions that make up FinELib have expressed a preference for the CC BY license where available and your institution may not approve the request if you have not selected this license. Please contact your university or library open access team with questions on this topic.

You can be confident that by choosing open access your work has the best chance to be read, cited and shared. Read more about the advantages of publishing open access here.

*subject to availability of sufficient funds in eligible FinELib institutions' Wiley Open Access Accounts
