Open access agreement for authors at eligible Qatari institutions
Publish open access with Wiley
From 1 January 2023, corresponding authors affiliated with participating QNL institutions may publish open access in any Wiley or Hindawi fully open access journal or in any hybrid journal, with no transactional Article Publication Charges (APC).
You can be confident that by choosing open access your work has the best chance to be read, cited and shared. Author(s) also retain the copyright through CC license. Read more about the advantages of publishing open access here.
When selecting open access, please note that the Qatar National Library Consortium have expressed a preference for the CC-BY license where available and your institution may not approve the request if you have not selected this license. Please contact your university or library Open Access team with questions on this topic.
To be eligible:
- The responsible corresponding authorThe responsible corresponding author is the author who manages the manuscript and correspondence during the publication process - from submission through publication. This author has the authority to act on behalf of all the co-authors and will also be the contact for inquiries after publication.must be affiliated with an eligible QNL member institution at the point of acceptance.1
- You must publish open access in a Wiley hybrid (subscription) journal that offers open access, or submit your article to a fully open access journal under the Wiley or Hindawi portfolios.
- Your article must be primary research or a review article, including but not limited to original articles, case studies, reviews, short communications, and other content types.2
- For Wiley hybrid journals, you must order hybrid open access by using the order workflow on Wiley Author Services.3
- For Wiley fully open access journals, please refer to and follow the steps laid out in this guide, or declare your affiliated institutions when requested during the submission process, to submit your article’s open access APC to said institutions4.
- To publish in a Hindawi fully open access journal, please follow this guide.4
- Your manuscript must have been accepted for publication in a Wiley hybrid (subscription) journal, or submitted to a Wiley fully open access or Hindawi journal on or after 1 January 2023.
- This agreement cannot be used to cover additional charges (e.g. cover, color, and page charges), which individual journals administer separately

Additional information and questions
1If you are no longer affiliated with an eligible QNL institution at the point of acceptance of your paper in a hybrid journal or submission to fully open access titles, you do not qualify.
2Other article types e.g. letters, editorials etc. are excluded.
3If you don't order open access initially, your manuscript will be published under the traditional closed access model. You may order open access retroactively, but once your paper is published in Early View or In Issue online you are no longer eligible to publish open access at no charge.
